  3. Focus Question 1 • Three ‘learn about’ dot points down to two • Second ‘learn about’ dot point has been captured in the expanded ‘learn to’ and in the next focus question that includes ‘groups experiencing inequity’ • Second ‘learn to’ is expanded • Third ‘learn to’ is streamlined

Focus Question 2 • Three priority issues Priority issues for improving Australia’s health • Groups experiencing health inequities (ATSI + One other) • High levels of preventable chronic disease, injury and mental health problems (CVD + Cancer + One other) • A growing and ageing population (Impacts)

  11. Six Key Targets for Closing the Gap The Australian Government, together with the states and territories has set specific targets to address Indigenous disadvantage. The six key targets that form the Closing the Gap objective are to: • close the life expectancy gap within a generation • halve the gap in mortality rates for Indigenous children under five within a decade • ensure access to early childhood education for all Indigenous four years olds in remote communities within five years • halve the gap in reading, writing and numeracy achievements for children within a decade • halve the gap for Indigenous students in Year 12 attainment or equivalent attainment rates by 2020 • halve the gap in employment outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians within a decade.
