BUFFALO BAYOU AND BEYOND • Today, the 52-mile stretch of Buffalo Bayou is the nation’s number one port in foreign cargo and one of the largest ports in the world. • The Buffalo Bayou Master Plan • anticipates $5.6 billion of private • investment in the Buffalo Bayou • District over the next 20 years. • Public investment is estimated at • $800 million (hard costs only) over • this period. • Flood capacity improvements integrated with waterfront growth protect Downtown: 100-year flood levels can be reduced by an estimated eight feet.
