  1. IMPLYImproved Modelling of non-tidal Mass Variations for optimized Gravity Field Analysis GOALS • Improved geophysical modelling of global mass variations (atmosphere & ocean) in order to optimize GRACE and next generation gravity field data analysis • Assessing the homogeneity of the numerical models • (consistency, long-term stability, uniformity of standards) • Determining realistic error maps for simulated mass anomalies • Impact of different atmospheric data sets (ECMWF operational analyses, ERA Interim and NCEP-2 re-analyses) and oceanic models (latest versions of OMCT and MOG2D), on AOD and GRACE gravity field processing will be determined

  2. IMPLY GOALS (continued) • Studies on the significance of the use of short-term hydrological mass variations for GRACE de-aliasing (hydrology models & daily GRACE solutions) • analysis of various hydrological model data  realistic error maps • daily GRACE solutions – Do they contain hydrological signals ? • hydrological de-aliasing product • (3) Review, extension and speed up of error-propagation software developed in • the SPP1257 project IDEAL-GRACE

  3. IMPLY Contribution to SPP objectives IMPLY will lead to a better understanding of the satellite signals and improved gravity field time series • products planned to be prepared within IMPLY: • ocean mass anomalies + uncertainties (latest versions of OMCT and MOG2D) • continental water storage anomalies + uncertainties (latest version of WGHM) • revised de-aliasing products for short-term variations in atmosphere, oceans and, if appropriate, terrestrial water storage • regionally refined de-aliasing products for the Mediterranean and the Black Sea region
