  1. Biology Summer Project Human and microorganisms

  2. Table of content • Types of microorganisms • Useful of microorganism • Immunization

  3. Types of microorganisms Bacteria Fungi Viruses Protozoa

  4. Bacteria • Both Autotrophic and Heterotrophic nutrition • Reproduction by binary fission • Dysentery (痢疾), Cholera (霍亂),Diphtheria (白喉) are cause by bacteria

  5. Fungi • Nutrition: secrete enzyme to break down complex nutrients into simpler forms they can absorb. • Reproduction: Forming reproductive spores that are carried on wind or rain. • Diseases caused by fungi: Ringworm (癬), Athlete’s foot (香港腳), Skin infection(皮膚病)

  6. Viruses • Diseases caused by viruses: Measles(痳疹), Mumps(腮腺炎), Influenza(流行性感冒)

  7. Protozoa • They can feed on body tissues and produce effect. For example:Malaria (瘧疾), Amoebic dysentery (亞米巴疾痢).

  8. Useful of microorganism • Putrefaction • Nitrification • Nitrogen Fixation • Digestion of cellulose • As a source of antibiotics • Sewage treatment • Production of antibiotic by Penicllium • Bread Production • Wine Production

  9. Bread Production Glucose + Yeast → Carbon dioxide + alcohol + energy

  10. Wine Production Sugary food + Yeast→ Fermentation→ Filtering→Beer

  11. Immunization
