CAS Standards • Must provide time for students to become acquainted with their new environment • Must inform students about the history, tradition and campus culture to facilitate an identification with and integration into the institution • Must aid students and their families in understanding the nature and purpose of the institution, their membership in the academic community and their relationship to the intellectual, cultural and social climate of the institution

  3. UOIT Orientation Outcomes As a result of participation in orientation programming, students will be able to: • Describe the value and purpose of a university education/experience • Interpret the academic expectations of the institution • Discuss the history, tradition and campus culture

UOIT Orientation Outcomes As a result of participation in orientation programming, students and their families will be able to: • Interpret the institution’s expectations of students • Discuss laws and policies about academic records (FIPPA) • Identify available services and programs to support student success • Identify important buildings and locations on campus and in the local environment • Discuss their membership within the community • Describe the roles that upper-year students, faculty, staff and administration play in supporting the academic success of students • Identify the wide range of electronic and information resources available and expectations for their use.
