  1. Section 5.3: Writing Linear Equations Given Two Points Int. Math I

  2. Steps to follow when given 2 points: 1. Find the slope (m) - use this 2. Pick one point to use – it doesn’t matter which one!!! 3. Plug the point and slope into point-slope form 4. Get equation in y = mx + b form if necessary

  3. Example #1 Write in point-slope form the equation of the line that passes through the given points. (6,2) and (8,6) 1. Find the slope 3. Plug into point-slope form 2. Pick a point 4. Not necessary

  4. Example #2 Write in slope-intercept form the equation of the line that passes through the given points. (-2,3) and (1,6) 1. Find the slope 3. Plug into point-slope form 2. Pick a point 4. Get into y = mx +b

  5. Your turn!!! Write in point-slope form the equation of the line that passes through the given points. (-3,4) and (-1,6) 1. Find the slope 3. Plug into point-slope form 2. Pick a point 4. Not necessary

  6. Your turn again!!! Write in slope-intercept form the equation of the line that passes through the given points. (5,3) and (10,8) 1. Find the slope 3. Plug into point-slope form 2. Pick a point 4. Get into y = mx +b
