  1. The libraries of Xavier University are housed in two fully-airconditioned buildings: the three-storey Main Library building, and the five-storey Library Annex. The two buildings are connected by a walkway. Collectively, the buildings have a seating capacity of 1,062.

  2. This is the arrangement at the Library Annex. 2nd floor, Current Books & Reserve 4th floor, books with the Dewey numbers 600-999 3rd floor, books with the Dewey numbers 000-599 & Fiction 5th Floor, SERIALS LIBRARY

  3. The AUDIO VISUAL SECTION, located at the Annex building, 1st floor, provides an assortment of multimedia resources. Reservations for the use of 5 viewing rooms are made here. There are four libraries at theMain Building. At the 2nd floor are theGRADUATE LIBRARY, and the AMERICAN STUDIES RESOURCE CENTER which houses a special collection of resources on American studies.

  4. At the 3rd floor are theLAW LIBRARY, and the FILIPINIANA LIBRARY. Then, there is theMEDICAL LIBRARY, located at the 4th floor of the Community Health Care Clinic.

  5. Library Hours • Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. • Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. • Circulation counters open from: • 8:30-12:00 a.m. 12:30-6:30 p.m. Monday to Friday • 8:30-12:00 a.m. 1:00-4:30 p.m. Saturday • Any changes in the schedule will be posted in advance.

The following SERVICES are provided: Book & Periodical Borrowing Current Awareness Article Alert New Acquisitions Pathfinder Table of Contents (TOC) Display and Exhibits Document Delivery Hold Request Library Tour and Instruction Microfilm and Microfiche Photocopying Reference and Information Service Searching, Reserving, Stack Service Free access is also provided in the wi-fi enabled libraries. Anyone can bring and use his or her wi-fi enabled laptop/notebook inside. No extra fees, no charges. There are also terminals for wi-fi use at designated library areas.

  7. ELECTRONIC RESOURCES are available in the form of online databases and CD-ROMS. Currently, the Library has 22 ONLINE DATABASES covering a wide variety of subject areas with articles dating as far back as 1975. The databases can be accessed at any computer at the main campus which is connected to the Internet. Access to the database is through the library website. The articles can be downloaded, printed or sent as an e-mail CD-ROMs on various subjects are also available at the 5th floor, Library Annex. Printing is free; just provide the paper.

  8. Online Public Access Catalog The Online Public Access Catalog or OPAC is used to find library materials. The OPAC is searchable by keyword, author, title or subject. OPACs are available at all floors of the libraries. Computerized-Issue System The library operates a computerized-issue system. A first-time borrower registers at Circulation Counter 2, 2nd floor, Library Annex. The current University ID is needed to borrow materials. Library Website Library resources can be accessed anytime and anywhere through http://library.xu.edu.ph/ The website provides links to the online databases, various libraries, local, national and foreign newspapers, free ejournals and ebooks, research guides by subject, and many more free Internet resources.

  9. CONTROL AREA This is where the IDs are scanned prior to entrance inside the library. The policy NO ID, NO ENTRY is strictly implemented. An electronic security system is also in place at the 2nd floor of the Library Annex. Before leaving the Library, all checked out materials are de-sensitized at Circulation Counter 2.

  10. Library Staff There are 11 experienced and well-trained LIBRARIANS and 8 CLERKS who are ready to serve and provide assistance in the use of library resources. There are also over 50 student assistants who can help with any library need.

  11. The Library is a place for all library users to pursue their academic needs in a congenial atmosphere free from unnecessary disturbances. To this end, be considerate of, and respect, the needs of other library users. Help the library maintain a quiet “scholar’s workshop.” Thank You!
