  2. What is Dual Enrollment? Dual Enrollment is a program for “academically eligible” high school seniors to enroll in course work at the college level while still enrolled in high school Ridley High School has a dual enrollment agreement with the following colleges: • Delaware County Community College • Widener University • Clarion University (online courses only)

Basic Information • Students may take one dual enrollment course in the fall of senior year; if successful, they may take one or more in their spring semester • All dual enrollment courses taken are transferrable to other colleges and universities • If you take English or History as a dual enrollment course in the fall semester, you are exempt from taking English or Senior Issues at Ridley • You may not take English or History for exemption in the spring since both courses are graduation requirements • For each dual enrollment course taken, a student earns 3 college credits and 2 Ridley High School credits

Requirements for Dual Enrollment • Minimum GPA of 2.5 by the end of first semester of junior year • Students must have successfully completed all courses attempted at Ridley High School (no F’s on transcript) • Completion of all required paperwork and all deadlines met • Placement testing • Ability to pay for any courses taken • Ability to provide your own transportation

  5. Costs of Dual Enrollment The tuition for each dual enrollment course varies at the different institutions. DCCC – approximately $120 per course (normally $315) Clarion University – approximately $330 per course (normally $828) Widener – approximately $550 per course (normally $1674) Tuition for each course is the responsibility of the student and his/her family and must be paid by the date required by each college

  6. How do I sign up? If you are interested in signing up for dual enrollment, please complete the form that you received when you came in today by the date stated and return to Mrs. Di Donato in the Guidance Office When you return the completed form (signed by parent/guardian), if you meet the minimum requirements, you will be given another set of forms that must be completed to start the process; at that time, you will be instructed as to how to proceed

  7. What happens next? • Once all paperwork has been collected, Mrs. Di Donato will send transcripts and applications to the college that you have selected • Each college will determine acceptance • Once accepted, Mrs. Di Donato will notify all students and arrange placement testing • Placement testing will occur and after we receive the results, registration dates will be scheduled

  8. Dual Enrollment Registration Mrs. Di Donato will facilitate the process for dual enrollment registration Registration dates will be set, students will be notified and registration will occur with the student, Mrs. Di Donato and the college representative After the student registers for a course, he/she will be required to have a permission form signed by a parent or guardian before any schedule changes will be made

Timeline • December 13th – Junior Class meeting to discuss Dual Enrollment • December 23rd – Due date for first “Interest Form” • Early January– Transcript Release, Application, and Dual Enrollment Agreement • February – March – Placement Testing if needed • May – Registration for individual College courses
