  1. QUALITIES • OF • MONTFORTIAN STUDENTS

  2. 1. DESIRE FOR KNOWLEDGE: St. Montfort was a man of many talents. He was a painter, artist, sculptor, composer of hymns, writer, speaker and a preacher. He had a thirst for learning and made use of all the opportunities.

  3. 2. THIRST FOR HIGHER KNOWLEDGE: The Higher Knowledge refers to the Eternal Wisdom, God. St. Montfort longed for this Eternal Wisdom. He talked about the Higher Knowledge, the supreme Knowledge in opposition to the worldly knowledge. He said, “To know God is to know enough; not to know Him and to know everything is to know nothing”.

  4. 3. DIGNITY OF LABOUR: All types of works are good and noble. We need to give dignified status to all those who work in whatever situation they are. St.Montfortstruggled hard to pay for his studies and sometimes worked to pay for his studies. Our students should learn the value of hard work.

  5. 4. ACCEPT FAILURES AND MOVE FORWARD COURAGEOUSLY: Life is basically made up of successes and failures. We face tensions about exams, loss of concentration, poor memory, misunderstanding with friends, teachers, parents, failures in exams etc. We have a lot to learn from St.Montfort about how to handle failures and problems.

  6. 5. BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF ONE:You can make a difference in this world. Our world has seen crowds and crowds of people who have meant nothing to this world. We had one Buddha, one Gandhi, One Montfort, one mother Theresa, and one YOU. One life can make a difference.

  7. 6.PRUDENT AND INTELLIGENT USE OF MEDIA: We are urged to use our inner intelligence-wisdom-to discern our actions. We live in the midst of media explosion. We need to learn to separate good from the evil. St.Montfort burnt with zeal for God to guide the young in the right path.

  8. 7. CARE FOR THE POOR AND THE NEEDY: It is one of the qualities close to St.Montfort’s heart. A Montfortian student is one who keeps the poor and the neglected close to his/her heart. Reach out to the poor in your neighbourhood. “The people rejected by the world must move you the most” said St.Montfort.

  9. 8. JOIN HANDS FOR PROMOTING PEACE, JUSTICE AND HARMONY: Montfortian students have to join hands with all the positive forces working in the world to promote peace, justice and integrity of creation.

  10. 9. AVOID EXCESSIVE DESIRES: Excessive desire is the root cause of all evil, unhappiness and pain. If we are able to identify the roots of our desires and handle them as St.Montfort, we can face the pressures of life calmly. St.Montfort met the desires at the door and showed them the right direction.

  11. 10. CHERISH THE MONTFORTIAN EDUCATION:Montfortian education is an education for life. The ultimate aim of Montfortian education is to facilitate the holistic formation of a human personality. In montfortian education, hearts, feelings, and persons are stressed alongside heads, minds, hands and emotions. Be proud to be a montfortian, because it is a privilege, a pride, a blessing and it is a responsibility.
