  3. Our Changing World • Technological advances • Increased calamities • Increased sicknesses/wickedness • Changing values & morality “There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.” Luke 21:11 (NIV)

  4. Our Unchanging God “For I am the LORD, I do not change…” Mal 3:6 (NKJV) “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Heb 13:8 (NKJV) “ … who is, and who was, and who is to come …” Rev 1:8 (NIV)

  5. What’s in a name? God also said to Moses, “I am the LORD. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself known to them.” Ex 6:2-3 (NIV) God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.” Ex 3:15 (NIV)

  6. What’s in a name? • Tetragrammaton JHVH or YHWH • Jehovah/Yahweh • Unpronounceable sacred name • God’s own personal, distinct and redemptive name “And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.” Ps 9:10 (NKJV)

Psalm 23 (NKJV) 1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.  2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;    He leads me beside the still waters.  3 He restores my soul;    He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.  4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,     I will fear no evil; For You are with me;      Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.  5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;    You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.  6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me     All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

  12. Jehovah-Rapha (Ex 15:26) • The LORD that heals • “He restores my soul” • “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.” Luke 4:18-19 (NIV) • Spirit: Separation from God (spiritual) • Body: Sicknesses & infirmities (physical) • Soul: Hurts and grief (emotional)

  17. Jehovah-Melech 'Olam (Ps10:16) • The LORD King forever • “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever” • “The LORD is King forever and forever. Those who follow other gods shall be swept from his land.” Ps 10:16 (TLB)

  18. Confess His Name • Jehovah – “I will be all that I will be” • “Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus …” Heb 3:1 (NKJV) • “And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Ac 2:21 (NIV)
