  4. 1. Second PGS trip to Spain … • Spanish recently introduced at PGS. • Second most spoken language in the world. • Pupils can currently choose Spanish in S3 and / or S5/6. • PGS also linking with a school in Spain. • Barcelona trip an opportunity to pick up some conversational Spanish and also to experience the culture and attractions in a fantastic Spanish city.

  5. 2. Trip dates and travel arrangements… Depart on Sunday 17th June - Depart PGS at approx 12.00 noon. - Coach to Newcastle. - Flight at 18.00hrs to Barcelona. - Arrive in Barcelona at 21.35hrs.

  6. 2. Trip dates and travel arrangements… Return on Friday 22nd June - Flight at 13.50hrs to Newcastle. - Arrive in Newcastle at 15.35hrs. - Arrive back at PGS at approx 20.00hrs.

  11. 3. Hotel Hotel Don Juan Tossa de mar Breakfast and dinner will be served in the large dining room in the hotel. Both are a help yourself buffet. We will also be provided with a packed lunch from the hotel each day.

Expectations of pupils • All pupils participating in this trip have been allocated a place on the basis of their previous good behaviour and attitude in school. • It is expected that this good behaviour will continue on the trip and that pupils will represent PGS well. • There is a Code of Conduct which outlines expected behaviour in relation to the journey, the hotel and on day trips. • Any problems of indiscipline or failure to comply with the Code of Conduct may result in pupils being removed from day trips. • Please read the Code of Conduct with your son/daughter and sign and return the Agreement attached by the end of this week.

  24. 6. Code of Conduct Agreement Please read the code of conduct agreement and discuss it with your son/daughter. Please sign the agreement and return to Miss Donnelly in room C18 by the end of this week.

  25. 7. Passports Each pupil requires their own passport for the trip. The Passport Office recommends that you allow six weeks for a passport to come through. I will require a copy of each pupil’s passport to pass to the travel company at the end of March.

  26. 8. Insurance Included in the cost of this trip is basic travel insurance, covering things such as hospital expenses, flight delays, lost luggage. This insurance does NOT cover the loss of personal items such as mobile phones, cameras, ipods during the trip. In past experience, such items can be lost relatively easily – please take out your own separate insurance to cover the loss of any such expensive personal belongings.

Baggage - recommended purchases • You will need: • One suitcase for the week to be checked in (weighing a max of 20kg) • One small piece of hand luggage • One secure rucksack / bag to take your things in on a daily basis • Wallet / purse to put your money in • A bum-bag/waist wallet It is very important that you have an appropriate/secure bag to take your things in on a daily basis.

  28. 10. Final price £600 The final price of trip is • This price includes: • All travel and airport fees • Travel Insurance as discussed • All accommodation • All excursions • All food – breakfast, packed lunch, dinner

Spending money You will need some spending money for: • Any snacks / drinks which you wish to buy over the five days • Any souvenirs / presents which you wish to buy • The tourist train in Tossa de mar if you wish to do it We recommend that you bring a maximum of spending money. £250 ** Staff will keep / look after your money - this will be discussed at the next meeting**

  33. 12. Next few months… Barcelona 2012 trip hoodies Mrs Jamieson has issued pupils with a letter about trip hoodies. The deadline for forms and payment for hoodies is 20th February.
