  1. Building An IndigenousUpstream Champion Strategies, Impact & Solutions A PanelDiscussion Layi Fatona MD – NIGER DELTA EXPLORATION & PRODUCTION PLC

  2. And Who Is An Indigenous Upstream Champion? But I Must Also Ask Where Are The Nigerian Petroleum Industry Champions?

  3. My Definitions of an Indigenous CHAMPION • A Nigerian Independent Oil & Gas Company THAT ……… • Has identified and technically evaluated a dormant non producing opportunity. • Competitively negotiated &/or make a successful bid for same. • Raised adequate Capital (Equity + Debt). • Assembled an appropriately balanced Technical and Financial team. • Brought the asset on stream and maintain a steady production profile within the existing operating laws of the federal republic of Nigeria. • Has remained strong, profitable, with good corporate governance structure in place, and able to grow into a bigger and more technically sophisticated operator.

  4. Requirements for identifying opportunities • Hard nose to smell & feel the asset opportunity • Hard hands, strong minds and drive to work the opportunity • Credible enough to raise Plenty Sustained capital • In Today's Nigerian Environment Ample Opportunities Abound • Between Production and The Terminal • A Wide Playing Space • Gas Resources Development • Plug in Upstream Opportunities

  5. Big?Still In 2012 • Now amongst us – Independent Nigerian Oil Companies • Do we have an Upstreamchampion YET? • We are looking to see that Indigenous Company producing steadily at +> 50,000BOPD • Not Just Oil • Gas Resources Development • Oil & Gas Processing Plug & Play Opportunities.

  6. Conclusion My Considerable Thoughts We have “Potential” Upstream Champions. We also want Industry Champions What is required? Between Production and The Terminal there is Plenty Space for Chanpions In five years to come- The Champions will start emerging. Thank You For Listening
