  3. Priorities within Youth in Action • European citizenship • Participation of young people • Cultural diversity • Inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities

  4. Which countries are involved? • 27 member states of the European Union • EES-countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway • Candidate countries: Turkey • “Neighbouring partner countries”: Eastern Europe & Caucasus, Mediterranean partner countries, South East Europe

  5. Youth in Action – five actions 1) Youth for Europe 2) European voluntary service 3) Youth in the world 4) Youth Support systems 5) Support for European cooperation in the youth field

  6. Youth exchanges • Active participation • Non-formal learning • A specific theme • Similarities and differences • European citizenship • 6 – 21 activity days • 13 – 25 yrs old (26-30) • 16 – 60 participants

Youth Initiatives • Young people’s own ideas • Project planned, carried out and evaluated by young people • Non-formal learning • Local, regional, national or transnational levels • 3 – 18 months • 18 – 30 years (15-17) • 4 persons • Non-formal group • Organisation • National or transnational projects

Youth Democracy projects • Projects aim to increase active participation of young people at all levels by supporting their participation in the mechanisms of representative democracy • National or transnational networks • 13 – 30 years of age • Minimum 16 participants from 2 countries, and 2 structures/country • Duration: 6 – 18 months

  9. Volunteer • participate in a non-profit making activity • Not replace paid employees • Extra resource in a local project, added value • ”learning” service • (16)18 - 30 years of age • Open for all young people • No previous qualifications required • 2 months – 1 year • (2 weeks - 2 months)

Training and networking activities • Training and networking for those active in youth work and youth organisations • Promoting exchanges, cooperation and training in European youth work • Support development of projects under the ”Youth in Action” programme • Feasibility visit • Evaluation meeting • Study visit • Partner-ship building activity • Seminar • Training course • Networking • Job shadowing (practical learning experience)

  11. Support for European cooperation in the youth field • Youth seminars • dialogue between young persons and decision makers • national or international • 15-30 years of age • 3-6 days • 60 participants • 5 countries
