It offers high resolution with exceptional magnifications. When compared to SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), AFM technology allows imaging of dielectric material surfaces and doesn't need the application of conductive layers. It allows you to determine the roughness paraneters of the surface without any further testing. Atomic Force Microscopy is being used in a host of science and technology areas and is constantly being developed. It is being used extensively in functional material surface quality research, along with analysis of the surface on a nanometric level. AFM relies on interatomic short rate interactions which is based on the topography of the surface of the sample. It provides accurate images of the surface topography using a static contact mode, though there is a low risk of damaging the sample by applying low pressure forces on low hardness samples. The dynamic resonance mode keeps the probe a small distance from the surface of the sample offering lower resolution images, but ideal for samples with low hardness that can be deformed and damaged easily, while the intermittent contact mode enables the interaction of short and long range forces. A feature on all modes is the imaging creation method which is resulting from the measurement of forces that occur between the surface and the probe. As a result, AFM imaging is effective for a range of engineering materials with no limitations when it comes to the electrical, mechanical and optical properties of the material being researched. AFM image processing is used to measure and analyze the surface of the sample, including statistical data of selected areas. This type of microscopy is used in material engineering when precise measurements are needed of the quality of the surface. This type of technology is used extensively in the dental industry, researching dental materials including dental prosthetics and modern coating techniques. AFM image processing is also used extensively in the physical properties of surface materials that have low hardness and lack electrical conductivity, making them harder to analyze. This type of microscopy allows the analysis of surface topograhy of the thinnest organic layers and composites, such as nanostructure fillers. The results help ensure the stability of the surface, along with identifying any damage on a nanoscale, including tiny lumps. Very thin layers from organic materials are low density, which can result in inaccurate imaging, while using SEM can degrade the surface, damaging the sample. AFM is ideal providing an image of the surface with resolution capabilities that are exceptional. AFM technology also allows thickness measurements of the thinnest organic layers. This is often a time consuming process that requires complex calculations to identify th thickness of the layer. AFM makes thickness measurement fast and hassle free. It is important when choosing the accurate and precise imaging offered by AFM that you choose a reputable supplier that is backed by experience with thousands of AFM products you an choose from. They should bring years of experience to the table with a proven track record for being results driven with outstanding customer service and support. Research the company in detail and learn as much about their products, including their AFM image processing software and application, so you can ensure that it will work best for your particular project. Review the companies by making use of independent review sites before you compare them to make your
