How will O-QAR benefit my 21st CCLC? • But, first, what is O-QAR? • O-QAR is an assessment tool designed to monitor 21st CCLC program quality as well as plan for future program improvements • Benefits to the 21st CCLC 1) It will provide you with data that will help identify the strengths of your program, as well as help you identify areas for improvement. 2) The results of O-QAR will be used to guide future professional development opportunities for 21st CCLC staff.

  4. Overview of O-QAR O-QAR is comprised of three Sections: • Part I: Compliance • Part II: Quality Programming and Oversight • Part III: Outcomes

Tool that is designed to help 21st CCLC initiatives prepare for the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) compliance site visit Helps sites determine if they are meeting state/national regulations NOTused to determine funding Sections include: Programming Human Resources Management Documentation Accountability Fiscal What is O-QAR: Part I Compliance?

Tool that is designed to monitor quality within 21st CCLC initiatives Provides baseline data NOTused to determine funding Sections include: Youth Development Academic Learning Parent/Family Engagement Safety, Health, & Nutrition Facilities, Space, & Equipment Leadership Staffing Diversity Climate Connections with Others Accountability Marketing & Public Relations Sustainability What is O-QAR: Part II Quality Programming & Oversight?

Tool that is designed to determine stakeholder perceptions about key outcomes related to the 21st CCLC Provides data to help create buy-in and strengthen community partnerships NOTused to determine funding Sections include: Perceptions of Youth Development Outcomes Perceptions of Academic Learning Outcomes Perceptions of Parent/Family Engagement Outcomes What is O-QAR: Part III Outcomes?

  8. How to Complete O-QAR? • Identify a group of stakeholders to complete O-QAR; stakeholders might include: • District Administrator • School Administrator • Grants Manager/Coordinator • Site Coordinator • Program Staff • Program Assistant • Sport/Recreation Leader • Academic Intervention Support • Teacher • Community Partner • Parent • Volunteer • Others • Determine the 21st CCLC Compliance Designee; this person should either be the Site Coordinator or Grants Coordinator/Manager

  9. How to Complete O-QAR? • Give each stakeholder the link to O-QAR: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=jA11KP_2fH1HxCTQLdTH7x6g_3d_3d You may wish to make copies of the O-QAR Directions handout located in your folder for each stakeholder.

  10. How to Complete O-QAR? • Enter the 21st CCLC site name, building location, and zip code • Please make sure that each person within your site that completes O-QAR has this information. This is how we will determine the data that belongs to each site.

  11. How to Complete O-QAR? • Click on the role that best describes you • Dependent upon each stakeholder’s role, different sections of O-QAR will be completed

If you are the Site Coordinator or the Grants Manager/Coordinator, you will be asked to fill out the following sections of O-QAR…. • Part I Compliance (ONLY if you have also been selected to be the Compliance Designee) • Part II Quality Programming & Oversight (ALL sections) • Part III Outcomes

If you are NOT the Site Coordinator or the Grants Manager/Coordinator, you will be asked to fill out the following sections of O-QAR…. • Part II Quality Programming & Oversight • (Only the following sections: Youth development; academic learning; parent/family engagement; safety, health, and nutrition; facilities, space, and equipment; leadership; staffing; diversity; climate) • Part III Outcomes

  14. The deadline for all 21st CCLC sites to complete O-QAR isThursday,January 31st, 2008.

  15. What are the next steps after my 21st CCLC completes O-QAR? • A data report will be generated by OSU and mailed to each site for use in monitoring 21st CCLC program quality and planning for future program improvements • Follow-up technical assistance opportunities will be provided for 21st CCLC sites • If you have a yellow folder, your follow-up date will be Wednesday, February 20, 2008 • If you have a red folder, your follow-up date will be Wednesday, March 26, 2008
