Conceptual Exploration Differentiated Interoperability • Concepts (controlled headings and their synonyms) as access points • A priori relations to support processes of knowledge exploration Differentiated intersystem relations primarily promote a precise transition from one concept scheme to another; structural and typological differences are still a problem Additional support for extensive explorative processes can be provided by adjustment of concept schemes with means of internationalization and localization Internationalization Process of generalizing / delocalizing a KOS with reference to the representation of concepts and their semantic relations so that it can handle multiple languages and viewpoints Localization Process of modifying KOS in regard to the local information needs.
