  1. Don’t miss this CPD Doubling-up Opportunity !! Explanatory Note on the “Mentoring for MIMC/CMC” Prepared by the IMCHK Council 2009

  2. What is it about? • Identifying others who may potentially qualify as a MIMC / CMC (your mentoree) • And you mentor this candidate to complete the MIMC / CMC certification journey • You will be rewarded with CPD units: • 2 CPD unit/MIMC for facilitating & Mentoring a new member (MIMC) • 4 CPD unit/CMC for facilitating & Mentoring a new certified member (CMC)   • For this campaign, you will be rewarded with DOUBLE CPDs !! • 4 CPD unit/MIMC for facilitating & Mentoring a new member (MIMC) • 8 CPD unit/CMC facilitating & Mentoring a new certified member (CMC)

  3. What is “Mentoring”? • Mentoring is a process for the informal transmission of knowledge, social capital, and the psychosocial support perceived by the recipient as relevant to professional development (towards MIMC or CMC) • Mentoring entails informal communication, usually face-to-face and during a sustained period of time, between a person who is perceived to have greater relevant knowledge, wisdom, or experience (the mentor) and a person who is perceived to have less (the mentoree)" • (Bozeman, Feeney, 2007).

  4. Who can participate? • Any CMC members of the Institute of Management Consultants Hong Kong can join this campaign. • All we need is your past experience to attain your MIMC/CMC certification as well as your current experience as a consultant; • So that you can help the potential candidate (your mentoree) to go through the journey of MIMC/CMC certification.

  5. How does it work? • We currently have two upcoming events on CMC certifications: • By examination* on May 16 • By training workshop** via HKPC Professional Diploma in Management Consulting May 17~Sep 19 • All you need to do is to identify potential candidates who may be interested in either events • You will have to register through email to Ms Ip (adminsec@imchk.com.hk) with you and your mentoree’s name. • You will earn your CPD when your mentorees have successfully attained the CMC certification. */** details can be seen towards end of doc.

  6. Questions & Answers • Is it just a members’ referral exercise? • No !! It isn’t just a referral. It’s also a mentoring exercise to help the potential candidates to pass the MIMC/CMC exam. • For this reason, CPD will be awarded for the efforts made. • Why doubling-up the CPD? • This is a trial campaign and see how our members feel about this. Please feel free to contact us for any comments. • How long is this mentoring? • Typically, it takes however long your mentoree to successfully attain the MIMC / CMC certification. It also depends on which path (by exam or training workshop) (s)he goes through in attaining the MIMC/CMC certification. • Can I mentor more than one candidate? • Yes, you can.

  7. Questions & Answers • If I need help on the mentoring, what should I do? • Please feel free to email/contact Ms Ip and leave her your contact, a council member will contact you for assistance.
