Details • Giving the clients useful styling tips for their image • Understanding their style and working around their physical qualities to find what best suits them • Include advice about styling their hair, footwear and accessories that tie in with their fashion • Choosing garments that bring out the beauty within

Schooling • Highly advised to get some type of degree or education in the field • Depending upon the employer, some are lenient on hiring without any schooling and more for the knowledge or experience • A two or four year degree in merchandising, design or marketing is suggested • Internships are the best way to gain experience within the field

  4. Abilities • Having good interpersonal skills • Being able to persuade • Knowledge on upcoming fashion styles • Understanding of color combination and color theory • Recent experience in retail, styling, design or beauty therapy

  5. Personal Qualities • Being generously honest • A vivid imagination • Natural sense towards fashion • Has an eye for several different trends • Takes risks but still styles themselves professionally

  6. Compensation • Entry level stylist make between 150-200 per day • Professional full-time personal stylist can earn around 40,000 annually • Stylists who work with high end models or celebrities can make as much as 100,000 or even more

Locations & Avaliablity • Most popular areas for stylist’s are New York and California where the industries involving fashion are more active • Must have more of an open schedule for last minute appointments with clients • Many times stylist work through their telephone and get contacted for special events • Being available around the holidays
