  2. Beaker • Beaker: A wide cylindrical vessel with a pouring lip, used as a lab container and mixing jar. May come in 3 sizes: small, medium, and large with markings on the sides.

  3. Flask • A wide base glass container with a narrow neck, used for holding or carrying liquids.

  4. Test Tube • Test Tube: A clear cylindrical, glass tube open at one end and rounded at the other. Used in laboratory use and for experimentation.

  5. Test Tube Holder • Test Tube Holder: a plastic holder to place test tubes in before, during and after labs.

  6. Dropper • Dropper: A glass tube with a hollow rubber bulb at one end and a small opening at the other, drawing in a liquid and expelling it in drops.

  7. Pipette • Pipette: A slender, graduated plastic tube used for measuring and transferring quantities of liquid from 1 container to another.

  8. Glass Stirring Rods • Glass Stirring Rods: A glass rod using for stirring liquids in the lab. Often referred to as a “swizzle stick”.

  9. Hot Hands • Hot Hands: A plastic cupped shaped mitt to fit on one hand to handle hot containers.

  10. Lab Apron • Lab Apron: A plastic apron that fits over the student’s head and ties in the back. This will protect the student from potential spills or splashes.

  11. Safety Goggles • Safety Goggles: Plastic eye-wear in the form of goggles or glasses that will protect the students’ eyes during labs.

  12. Magnifying Lens • Magnifying Lens: A hand magnifying lens to enlarge objects during labs.

  13. Triple Beam Balance • Triple Beam Balance: A measuring instrument consisting of 3 beams to measure mass. To begin, you must set the calibration to “0” and then it is balanced when the line at the right lines up with the main marking.

  14. Microscope • Microscope: An optical instrument having a magnifying lens or a combination of lenses for inspecting objects too small to be seen by the unaided eye.

  15. Graduated Cylinder • A glass vessel with a rubber stopper and a rubber base that is used to measure liquids.

  16. Science Safety • According to Aesop’s Tale, “The Tortoise and the Hare”, remember who took his time and ended up winning the race. That is what I would like you to do, be careful, work hard and you will be successful!
