Schools • Most children wrote on slates.Older children learnt how too write with ink on paper.It was difficult to write with out leaving blots of ink on the paper. • Teachers were poorly paid and had little training. Older children helped. Naughty pupils were punished with cane. • The classes were and forty-four children would sit in each class. • Obedient children were given certificates and prizes who were good at all lessons. • The children whose work was bad or who were naughty were told too stand in the corner or teachers would put a label on them what they had done.

  4. Work Life was hard for poorer children in Victorian times as they had to work to help support their families. At the beginning of Queen Victoria's reign, poor children as young as five worked for a living.

  5. Clothing • Poor people had to wear rags for clothes and they had to find rags and wrap them around their feet for socks. Whereas, rich people had nice fancy clothes and footwear.

  6. Leisure • Poor people didn’t have much spare time but, if they had spare time they would use the best of it.On the other hand rich people had a lot of spare time and they would use it to relax ,eat or change their clothing.

  7. Important People • This is the experience of a boy called David Pyrah. This evidence was collected on May third 1842 when David eleven years old. He worked at a coal mine pit in Yorkshire. • This girl Sarah Ann Roberts was 11 years old , and worked at a farm as a labourer.

  8. When queen Victoria became queen she changed a lot of things, especially the way the poor were treated. She also changed some laws. When she got married too prince Albert she had nine children and lived happilly until Albert died after his death she only wore black and white • Florence Nightingale was one of those people wanted to help the poor. She was rich .And used her money for them when she did this her farther was upset.
