The TA Charge • To provide technical assistance to State and local educational agencies and other stakeholders • to improve the implementation of NIMAS • (2) to develop and implement unified distribution systems in SEAs that result in timely delivery of high-quality AIM to all children with disabilities who need them

  3. AIM Center Objectives • Knowledge Development; • Technical Assistance and Dissemination, • Leadership and Coordinated Activities

  4. NCAIM Technical Assistance Activities • Work directly with SEAs to ensure that distribution systems are high-quality and deliver AIM in a timely manner • Provide a continuum of general TA and dissemination activities to assist SEAs • Prepare and disseminate reports, documents, practice guides, and other materials • Maintain a Web site

  5. Technical Assistance Recipients • SEAs, LEAs other constituent groups as needed to reach expected outcomes • Primary recipient: SEA, who will, in turn provide support to LEAs, families, and others in a way that is aligned to state policies, procedures, and guidelines.

  6. Approaches • Proactive – • Produces and services scalable and useful to a broad range of constituents • Reactive • Direct responses to expressed need of a constituent Just in Time! Just for You!

  7. Methods • Direct • Involve the provider at the time that the TA is taking place • Indirect • Involve the TA provider during development and update

  8. Proactive Technical Assistance Just in Time! • Developing and maintaining • Web-based multimedia knowledge base • Multiple Webinars focused on topics of high interest and need of specific constituents • Collaborative conference sessions and seminars • Communication system for collaboration and information sharing among constituents.

  9. Reactive Technical Assistance • Requests in three categories • Can be taken care of immediately - answer and/or refer • Require more time and follow-up - discussion, research, collaboration • Require referral to other source - Fall outside of the NCAIM scope of work Just for You!

  10. Intensive TA to Identified States • Mirrors the communication services provided to the AIM Consortium • Participation in a closed electronic mailing list • Regularly scheduled teleconferences • Other services to be developed based on the emerging needs of the selected states
