  1. Colegio San Francisco de Paula Sevilla Comenius Project 2011-2012 Term 1 SEPTEMBER-NOVEMBER

  2. In Septmber new 6 year students started in the project and during the first term they were learning about the Comenius School Project Replay Energy. During the first month the Students were using a more “hands on” and experimental approach where they were investigating in the classroom, in the lab. and at home about pollution and its effects (Greenhouse Gases(slides 5 and 6), Greenhouse Effect(slides 5 and 6),Global Warming(slides 5 and 6), Fossil Fuels and Acid Rain on soil(slides 3 and 4) ).They were also looking at the importance of plants on our planet and the process of photosynthesis.

  3. During November, the Students were busy preparing for their trip to our partnersLipasam at the end of the month, making, designing and displaying posters for the other students in the school to teach them about the 3Rs..REDUCE, REUSE AND RECYCLE! In their English Classes the y started a class reading book called “Recycling”This theme will continue and be developed more in the second term.

  4. Continuing from their learning in Year 6 last year, students now in Year 7 started to study Technology as part of their Secondary School Curriculum. In the 1st term they were introduced to the Design Cycle. They were investigating existing energy companies and have designed logos for their own 'Green' energy company.

  5. Miss Lashley their Technology Teacher continued on from the work she did last year in small groups about Eco-schools and Sustainable Living and she used creative and 'out of the box' thinking approaches with the students to generate original ideas for new ways of generating power. They have developed a set of criteria that allow them to evaluate their own ideas and the ideas of others.

  6. The Year 7 Students were also Imagining a world in which their local gym pays them for the electricty they generate when working out on the machines, or urban parks of piezoelectronic trees which generate electricty as they are gently stirred by the city breeze and the urban hum.
