FORTVALLEYSTATE University Dates to Remember Annual Performance Evaluations: January 26 – February 26, 2010 Annual Administrative Retreat: June 3-5, 2010 Location: Callaway Gardens You are expected to clear your calendars for this event. Those scheduled to attend will be required to be there the entire time period. If you leave the retreat early, you will be responsible the cost of the room. 4

FORTVALLEYSTATE University Ethics Training • The BOR has instituted a mandatory ethics training class that each employee must take before June 30, 2010. • Online classes will begin in January 2010 by department • A Final Score of less than 80% requires that the assessment be re-taken. • ???Those persons in your departments who are not computer savvy???? • Must attend a class and pass the test • . 5

FORTVALLEYSTATE University Campus Events Management Donald Moore - Campus Events Manager Any non academic event scheduled outside of the Pettigrew Center or Hendrick’s House should be scheduled through him. Includes events on the lawn, and all off campus locations. Responsibility will include coordination with campus police, Sodexo, plant operations and others as needed. As well as collect all associated fees. 6

  7. FORTVALLEYSTATE University Campus Events Management Events without the proper approval will be closed down by Campus Police Events where admission requires the payment of fees requires coordination with Accounting services. -Tickets 7

  8. FORTVALLEYSTATE University Outside Employment Vs. Outside Activity State employee can only work for one state entity at a time. If you hire a person who works for any other state of Georgia entity, they must be hired using the Agreement Between Institutions. Payment is made via a purchase request and is sent to the primary institution Please ensure a copy of the approved form is filed with HR 8

Outside Activity Request to Engage in Outside Activities Form Any FVSU employee who has employment outside of his/her position at FVSU must complete this form. FVSU must ensure there is no conflict between the two A copy of the approved form is filed in the employees personnel file in HR 9

FORTVALLEYSTATE University Background Investigation Policy Condition of employment with any institution of the University System of Georgia Offers of employment shall be conditional pending the result of : A state and federal criminal history check covering a minimum of seven (7) years; A social security number check; and For all professional, faculty and academic positions, an academic credentials check. 10

FORTVALLEYSTATE University Background Investigation Policy Sensitive Positions are those that involve interaction with children, after-hours access to facilities, access to financial resources or that have been otherwise identified by the hiring official to require a more extensive background investigation: Credit check Sexual Predator Registries 11

FORTVALLEYSTATE University Arrests and Convictions Any current employee Arrested Convicted (other than a minor traffic offense) Must report incident to the Office of Human Resources within 72 hours. Failure to report may result in appropriate disciplinary action, including termination of employment 12

  13. FORTVALLEYSTATE University Vehicles An analysis of the accidents in state of Georgia vehicles showed an alarming number of fender benders due to sloppy driving.  13

  14. FORTVALLEYSTATE University Vehicles All Vehicles must be clearly marked (no faded decals) Only state employees (does not include students) may operate a vehicle Must be at least 21 years of age to operate an FVSU vehicle 14

  15. FORTVALLEYSTATE University Vehicles Contractors are not authorized to drive state vehicles except when specifically authorized by state law. Golf carts are not considers vehicles Utility vehicles that can exceed 15 mph are (gas card?) 15
