  2. Objectives • Comply with Canadian Transportation Agency’s Accessibility Regulations and Canadian Accessibility Standards, CSA • Make sleeper compartment completely accessible for persons using wheelchairs and those who travel with service animals

  3. Accessibility Features • Accessible path from car entrance door to sleeper compartment for persons using wheelchairs and service animals • Fully accessible washroom for independent and dependent transfers from wheelchair to toilet • Accessible vanity and controls • Access to seat, sofa/bed • Information access for persons who are deaf/hear of hearing

  5. Accessible Vanity • Accessible vanity within sleeper compartment with automatic/sensor controls, and warm water temperature regulator

  6. Status • Accessibility features have been approved by the Canadian Transportation Agency who requires compliance from federally regulated transportation carriers. • VIA Rail is presently in the process of engineering and gearing up for production in 2010
