  3. Our objective is help students acquire skills that they can transfer to future reading.

  4. Reading strategy #1 Ability to guess/predict the likely development of the story by looking at the title and the pictures on the cover page.

  5. Reading strategy #2 Introducing the use of graphic organizers to help students organize their thougts.

  6. Reading strategy #3 Draw from background knowledge to help with the understanding of the reading text.

  7. Helping our students develop reading skills is important. Finding suitable material that is original and amusing is also important. We hope our students will enjoy the reading experience because the most important thing for us is… …that they develop a passion for reading.

  8. Strengths and weaknesses

  9. Strengths • Arouse students’ interest • Teacher can teach some reading strategies e.g. book cover walk, prediction, KWL , mind map • Encourage students’ creativity and critical reading skill

  10. weaknesses • No speaking activity • No cooperative learning • One-way reading • Time limitation
