  2. About Ancient Mesopotamia • Where? Modern Iraq • When? 4000 BCE first settlers came to Ancient Mestapotamia

Rulers. • How many rulers were there? • For more then 1,00 years it was the Sumer Kingdom. • 2350 BCE,King Sargon of Arrkad • 2000 BCE Babylonia • 1792-1750 BCE Hammurabi • 1595 BCE Kassites • 1158 BCE Elamites. • For the next one hundred years the kings came and left. And during this time Babylonia was seized by Persia(Iran). • Babylonia lost and Iran became very strong untill Greek solider Alexander The Great conquered it for Greece in 331 BCE, • he wanted to make it a wonderful land before his death but he died before he could in 200 BCE Iran recoqured. They had the land for many hundred years until the next innovator came.

  16. Farming Mesopotamia • grain, wheat, fruit, vegetables, and barn yard animals.  • They plowed ground with stone hoes.  • The metal plows had a funnel shape.  They filled containers with seeds. • Cows would pull plow seed and the seeds would go into the ground.

If a man acts lawlessly, they shall kill him. • 3, If a man detains another, that man shall be imprisoned and he shall weigh and deliver 15 shekels of silver. • 6. If a man violates the rights of another and deflowers the virgin wife of a young man, they shall kill that male. • 7. If the wife of a young man on her own initiative, approaches a man and initiates sexual relations with him, they shall kill that woman. That male shall be released. • 8. If a man acts in violation of the rights of another, and deflowers the virgin slave woman of a man, he shall weigh and deliver 5 shekels of silver. • 9. If a man divorces his first-ranking wife, he shall weight and deliver 60 shekels of silver.10. If he divorces a widow, he shall weigh and deliver 30 shekels of silver. • Hammurabi best and organized laws- 1792-1750 BC

Economy of Canada • 4% of the worlds what is grown here. • Here in BC we grow • Okanagan-Apples and summer produce • Lower Mainland- Forestry • Prince George and north-Copper • We export- Wheat, wood, plastic and Industrial Machinery. • Import- electricity, chemicals and crude oil • 60% of goods go to the USA

  23. Economy of Iraq • The U.S.A is going after them for oil • Rich in oil. • 80 billion lost in a 8 year war with Iran. • 95% of export money comes from oil.
