Revolution of 1800 Thomas Jefferson + running mate Aaron Burr Members of electoral college only vote for one (V.P. was runner up) Election in hands of outgoing Federalist House of Representatives Blocked election by voting for Burr Stopped after Hamilton helped persuade individuals to vote for Jefferson Led to 12th Amendment
