  3. Personal Hygiene & cleanliness - children must come to school clean and wearing the proper uniform. - girls must have their hair tied, only stud earrings. - books must be kept in a different compartment from lunch.

  4. Homework- Must be done by children everyday. - can be helped but write-up of HW to be done by children themselves. - shouldn’t take more than 30-45 minutes. - kindly note that children can be exempted from Religion but Maltese is compulsory.

  5. Homework Policy- 3 HWs on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday . Usually 2 c.bks and 1 w.bk/h.out. - 4 or 5 on Friday (2 c.bks and 2 w.bks + reading project h.out) - Colouring, reading and studying on Wednesday – no written HW day.

  6. TransportThose who make use of school transport: - Preferably children should wear a tag. - send a written note when changing transport on particular days (even once). - inform school administration when changing from one bus to another permanently.

  7. Notebook - to be signed by a parent or guardian everyday. - please make sure that children have all the necessary pictures and items needed for that particular week. Looking for pictures is part of HW as well!!

  8. Please make sure that children return back items which aren’t theirs. - Children tend to share pencil colours, rubbers etc. but forget to give them back. Your co-operation in this matter is highly important.

  9. PE kit- children must wear their PE kit on Mondays. - you will be informed accordingly in the event of any changes (such as lessons by PE teacher). Thus, it is of extreme importance to have a look at the notebook everyday.

  10. Lunch - the school backs a healthy eating policy. Lunch must include - sandwich - fruit, sponge or cereal bar - waterSweets, chocolate and juices/ soft drinks are not allowed. - No birthday cakes allowed.

  11. Punctuality - children have to be at school by 7:45 for the morning assembly. - to be picked up by 1:45. - when picking up children before the above mentioned time kindly inform me beforehand (if possible).

  12. Outings • Whenever we have outings I will put a consent form for the outing in the red folder (the price will be on the same paper). • Without the consent form I cannot take the child with me to the outing. • Deadline for collecting the money: the day before the outing. No money will be collected on the day (unless the child was for example sick and didn’t attend school).

  13. Uniform - summer: lime green polo shirt, navy blue shorts/skirt, black socks and shoes. - winter: striped shirt, tie, navy blue trousers/skirt, lime sweater and black socks/tights and shoes. The college jacket must be worn. (girls can wear trousers on cold days but on special occasions a skirt must be worn)

  14. PE Kit: - summer – lime t-shirt, navy blue shorts, white socks and sneakers, school cap. - winter – college track suit, lime t-shirt, white socks and sneakers.

  15. - shoes and sneakers without laces please. Velcro ones fine. - girls: only lime green, navy blue or black hair bands are allowed. - all uniform items to be labelled with the child’s name, surname and class (especially jackets and shoes)

  16. Reading project - Children will be given a book every Monday. They will keep the book for a whole week. On Friday they will be given a handout with fill in the blanks about that particular book for HW. The following Monday the handout and book will be collected and they will be given a new book. The same procedure will be repeated every week.

  17. Spelling game- Twice a week: Monday – Maltese, Friday – English. - A list of words will be written on spelling game copybook. To be studied at home. - Number of words to be studied will increase throughout the year.

  18. Sickness & injuries - for minor scratches and falls children can be left at school. - in case of sickness or other injuries you will be duly informed. Children to be picked up immediately in such cases. - any changes in contact numbers please inform the school immediately.

  19. - Smacking other children is strictly prohibited. - kindly encourage children to inform me if somebody kicks or hurts them. - do not encourage them to hit back since those caught hitting, smacking, biting etc. will be punished.

  20. Class website - http://year2butterflies.weebly.com - homework will usually be updated everyday - check regularly since any new info, notices etc. will be uploaded regularly - revision topics updated regularly as well. - Any queries kindly make use of contact teacher form.

  21. Cooking activities - cooking sessions will be held regularly throughout the year. - children will be given a list of all the items needed a week before so you will have ample time to prepare them. - every child has to bring only one food item because they will share amongst them. - it is of extreme importance to give them all the items.

  22. Revision Week - 2 revision weeks will be held: 1 in February, 1 in June. - you will be given a list of the topics to be revised in due time. - foreign pupils will be given an adapted version of the Maltese revision paper. - revision is of extreme importance. - 15-20 minutes reading everyday IS A MUST.

  23. - encourage children to hurry up especially in class. Usually we end up writing several notebooks, homeworks etc. because some children take too long to finish their work. - as from next week, those who do not manage to finish their work on time will either continue writing in the yard or bring home unfinished work.

  24. absenteeism - absences of 3 or more consecutive days must be backed up by a medical certificate. - 3 unjustified absences per month are allowed. The 4th day must be backed by a medical certificate as well. - HW will be copied daily but will be given to the child when he/she returns to school or to be collected after 3 days.

  25. Medical Certificates • A medical Certificate must be presented whenever the child is sick, stating the reason why he/ she was sick and the exact dates. • Without the medical certificate I have to mark them as absent not Medical (excused). • Even if they have medical appointments please get me a note from hospital / doctor to mark them as excused.

  26. Going Abroad • When going abroad / on holiday you need to get me a copy of the air tickets stating clearly the dates when they will be leaving and coming back. • Without the air tickets, again, they will be marked as absent not excused due to a family holiday.

  27. -Children must take good care of their books. Lost or torn books must be paid for. - Children should not carry a heavy satchel. Items in satchel must include: - Pencil case - Full set of colours - H.W. folder; notebook - Spelling game c.bk - 2/3 reading books - English/Maltese spelling lists

  28. Final note….. - books must be kept in school bag and brought to school everyday since we use them regularly. - Please revise spelling game words regularly. All work done in class must be revised at home.- thanks for your kind co-operation.
