  2. Stream 1 – Community SportCoaches in the Community Sport stream typically become involved on a voluntary (and often short-term) basis because their children participate in a sport. They tend to work with participants of all ages who are new to the sport.(Houseleagues, Beginner Levels) • Initiation Level A • Ongoing Participation Level B

  3. Stream 2 – CompetitionCoaches in the Competition stream usually have previous coaching experience or are former athletes in the sport. They tend to work with athletes over the long term to improve performance, often in preparation for provincial, national, and international competitions.(Rep teams, Regional/Provincial levels) • *Introduction to Competition Level A • Development Level B • High Performance Level C • *The course you will receive in Grade 12

  4. Stream 3 – InstructionCoaches in the Instruction stream must have sport-specific skills and training, whether coaching at the beginner or advanced skill levels. Many are former participants in the sport.(High Performance individual athlete Coach) • Beginners Level A • Intermediate Performers Level B • Advanced Performers Level C

  5. Coaching TheoryIntroduction To CompetitionModule ACertification To receive your theory certification you must complete study in the following areas: Ethics and Decision Making in Coaching Planning a Practice Nutrition

  6. NCCP Coaching Theory 6 - 8 Theory Classes Class 1 & 2: Intro to NCCP Intro to Coaching Liability/Negligence Class 2 & 3: Coaching Ethically Class 4 & 5 Safety Planning/Delivering Practices Class 6 & 7 Nutrition Class 8 Open Book Test

  7. To Be Successful and Receive NCCP CertificationYou Must: • Attend all classes (one miss with excuse allowed) • Complete all assignments • Pass the Open Book exam (60%)

  8. Technical Level Courses To become a fully certified level 1 NCCP coach you need to also take a Technical level course offered from a sport governing body • Contact Sport NS at 425 5450 for information on course clinics in your region and sport

  9. On completion you will be issued an NCCP coaching Number that is registered with the NCCP indicating your qualifications.
