  3. HIV STIs and Guatemala • At risk groups and intervention • Working through existing governmental and non-governmental agencies to implement public health interventions that will reduce the prevalence of HIV and STI in at risk populations in Guatemala. • Research • Outreach • Collaboration

  5. What Did We Do? • In the office • Literature review for publication • Development of study materials • In the STI clinic • Surveillance database • Clinical shadowing • Behind the scenes at a public health non-profit

  6. Why is it Important? • Interdisciplinary experience in infectious disease work in a developing Latin American country. • Cross cultural experience with social development, education and health care. • Opportunity to develop and practice medical Spanish with native speakers.
