  3. Testable Questions • How is the period of a pendulum effected by length? • How is the period of a pendulum effected by mass? • How is the period of a pendulum effected by release angle?

  4. Background Information • Pendulum – body mounted so it swings freely with gravity • Period – time for pendulum to complete 1 swing • Simulation

  5. Materials • Fishing line • Rubber stoppers • Protractor • Stopwatch • Meterstick • Balance • Tape

  6. Safety • Basic laboratory safety • No specific issues

  7. In lab groups… • Write a detailed procedure for one testable question • Identify the variables and controls for one testable question • Create data table(s)

  10. Seventh period • Complete investigation plan up to and including procedure. • 10 minutes • Work with person sitting next to you. • Check with Mr. Founds if time permits

  11. After collecting data… • Create graph displaying data • Write conclusion in paragraph format. Include: • Restate testable question • Summarize procedure • Summarize data • Evaluate hypothesis • Suggest improvements • Suggest further investigations
