Exploration Vocabulary. New World- The new land that was discovered in the America’s (modern day United States, Canada, South America) Feudalism - Political system where a King allows nobles, or lords, to use land. Reformation - A movement to correct problems in the church.

Exploration Vocabulary • New World- The new land that was discovered in the America’s (modern day United States, Canada, South America) • Feudalism- Political system where a King allows nobles, or lords, to use land. • Reformation- A movement to correct problems in the church. • Renaissance- A time of increased interest in art and learning. • Navigator- Plans the course of a ship.

Exploration Vocabulary • Slavery- The treatment of people as property and forcing them to do labor. • Conquistadors- Spanish soldier-explorers. • Colony- A new settlement or territory • Missionaries- People who travel to a territory to convert people to their religion. • Trappers- Adventurers who capture and kill animals.

  3. Exploration Vocabulary • Caravel- Improved ship that uses triangular and square sails. • Columbian Exchange- Transfer of people, plants, animals, merchandise, diseases, and ideas across the Atlantic Ocean.
