  4. Accomplishments Last Year After hosting successful fundraisers, we donated money to various organizations: Philly – $1,500 Clayton, NJ – $500 Haiti - $1,000

  5. Overview of Habitat for Humanity Habitat’s main goal is to provide clean, decent and stable housing for low income families. Families fill out an application and are chosen based on their financial need, along with their commitment to put in hours to build their home. Once their home is built, families receive a 0% interest mortgage.

  6. Overview of Habitat for Humanity Through the work of Habitat for Humanity, thousands of low-income families have found new hope in the form of affordable housing. Churches, community groups and others have joined together to successfully tackle a significant social problem – decent housing for all.Today, Habitat for Humanity has built more than 300,000 houses, sheltering more than 1.5 million people in more than 3,000 communities worldwide.

Saturdays, 8am – 3pm The next build is on October 6th We usually leave Penn at 8 am and return to campus at 3pm We coordinate with Delaware County Housing Coalition and Habitat Philly and go on builds in the Philadelphia areaand Pitman, NJ. When we get to the building site, we will be asked to work on anything ranging from painting, dry walling, tiling, etc. Builds

  9. Habitat for Humanity Builds • What to bring with you on a build: • water bottle, gloves and lunch/snack

  10. If you are 21 years old or over and have a valid drivers license, you can a become certified driver through Civic House. We are also using Philly Car Share this year for builds for those that are 19 years old or over. Anyone willing to drive on builds will have their dues waved and will get a free Habitat T-Shirt! Also, you can guarantee yourself a spot on any of the upcoming builds! Driving

  11. Committees! Interested in becoming a more active member of Habitat? Join one of our four committees and help plan events, fundraising, builds, and advocacy. Applications will go out in an email after the GBM. No need to reapply if you were on a committee last year. *DEADLINE: MONDAY, SEPT 17at 11:59PM

  12. Fundraising Committee We coordinate committee efforts and solicit corporate donations in order to raise money to fund Habitat Penn’s philanthropic events and expenditures. Major Fundraising Events in the Fall: Friarside Coffee House (NOVEMBER 14) We will host various Penn performance clubs and groups at Castle fraternity, while serving coffee and food. Downtown Events Ice Skating New events: we will be brainstorming new ideas to raise money for Habitat!

Education Committee The purpose of the Education Committee is to educate Penn and the surrounding community about Habitat for Humanity’s mission and related issues, like homelessness and the shortage of affordable housing. • Events include dinner with faculty, campus signs, film screenings, and Shanty Town.

  14. Build Committee The purpose of the committee is to help organize builds, advertise for build drivers & to spread the word about upcoming builds. If you realize that you won’t be able to attend builds, this is a great alternative to become involved. Two spots Available

Coalition Committee Responsible for maintaining with other Habitat chapters - Drexel, Philadelphia University, Holy Family, and Temple Largest Coalition Event: Rake-a-thon -Two month fundraiser in Chestnut Hill which raises around $8,000 Join to help plan the largest fundraising event, to meet new people from other Universities, and to make a huge impact on the community!

  16. Conclusion Habitat for Humanity dues are $10 for the entire year. This includes transportation to and from builds. T-shirts are $10, but if you buy a membership and a t-shirt, the total price is $15. Keep checking your email for updates about builds/meetings, applications for committees.
