The Purpose Of An NC Notary Public If you’re selling your house in North Carolina, you may need to get what’s called a certificate of acknowledgment from the clerk’s office in your county of residence. This document can also be referred to as a commissioner’s deed or notary acknowledgment, and it has nothing to do with whether or not you have an attorney – although it can be used when you do have an attorney to make the process go more smoothly and easily. Here’s how to get one of these certificates in North Carolina. A North Carolina notary public is a person who has been appointed by the NC Secretary of State to serve as an official witness to the signing of important documents. The notary’s job is to make sure that the person signing the document is who they say they are, and that they understand what they’re signing. To do this, the notary will ask for identification from both parties involved in the transaction. After verifying their identities, he or she will then usually stamp or seal their signature on the document before handing it back to them.

  4. The Requirements To Become An NC Notary Public To become a North Carolina notary public, you must: 1. Be at least 18 years old 2. Be a resident of North Carolina or a bordering state 3. The bond protects those who may lose property because of your actions as a notary public. 6. Submit an application form signed by your county clerk, which will include your name, address, driver’s license number (if applicable), social security number (if applicable), and list of any other names used in the past 10 years and birth date. Your application will also require your fingerprint scan and a passport photo if applicable.

  12. The Importance Of Document Signing And Certification Training Once processed, you will receive a letter stating that you are authorized to act as a notary public. You will also receive two certificates: one that is valid for four years and another that is valid for six months. Signing and certifying documents is an important part of being a notary public. To become a notary public in North Carolina, you must complete a notary public education course and pass an examination. After you have been commissioned by the state, you will be able to sign and certify documents. There are two types of certificates of acknowledgment that a notary public can give in North Carolina. The first type is for general documents and the second type is for real estate documents.
