  1. How to Sign Up for Facebook By Katherine Acorn and Chris Newton This step by step tutorial will assist you in signing up for Facebook. Facebook is a free and friendly site used to interact and communicate with people all over the world.

  2. Step # 1 The first step is to open up your internet browser and type in www.facebook.com in the address bar at the top of the page. Type in: www.facebook.com When you open up your internet browser, a default search engine will be in the address bar. A common web browser to use is Google.

  3. Step # 2 Once you have typed in the Facebook address, this is the page that will appear.

  4. Step # 3 Facebook has a very accessible sign up procedure. The user is required to include information such as their name, email, birth date, gender and a password to gain access to Facebook. TIP any user wanting to sign up for Facebook needs to be 13+

  5. Step # 4 Once the user has filled out their information and hit the “SIGN UP” button, the page will then transition to the one below. Before using Facebook, the user will need to follow four steps in order to complete their Facebook profile. Step one consists of finding friends. If the user would like to skip this step and continue it later, there is a “skip this step” button at the bottom.

  6. Step #5 Once the user has either skipped or found friends, the second step is to fill out their information The user is required to fill out personal information about themselves. Beside each fill in slot there are boxes which the user can choose whether certain audience can see their information or not. Hit save and continue or skip to go to the next step

  7. Step # 6 The next step requires the user to select their interests. Hit save and continue or skip to proceed.

  8. Step # 7 The last step before completing a Facebook profile is to add a profile picture. The user has a choice of taking a photo with their webcam or uploading a photo from their computer. Hit save and continue or skip to proceed

  10. Step # 8 To complete the sign up process, the user must access their email and login in.

  11. Step # 9 Once the user has accessed their email, click on the email from Facebook. This page will appear. Click the “Confirm Your Account” button to continue.

  12. Step # 10 Once the user has confirmed the email, you will be directed to your Facebook home page.

  13. Step # 11 To access your profile page hit the button with your name. Search for friends, places, events, etc. To access security settings press the lock button. Anytime you would like to return to the Facebook home page, hit this button. There are several different icons to browse and play with including apps, favourites or friends.

  14. You have now completed your own Facebook profile. Enjoy the Facebook experience!
