  2. Forma: Afirmativa • Verbos regulares: suj. + verbo no infinitivo + ed • Verbos irregulares: suj. + verbo no passado simples (segunda coluna).

  3. Exemplo:

  4. Negativa • Suj. + auxiliar (did) + not + verbo no infinitivo. Ex: - Peter didn’t see Mary last week. Interrogativa • Auxiliar (did) + suj. + verbo no infinitivo. Ex: - Did you do your homework yesterday.

  5. Usos: • Ações definidas no passado acompanhadas de advérbio de tempo (yesterday, years ago, last night, etc) ou de expressões que indiquem ações terminadas no passado. • Ex: - Cabral discovered Brazil in 1500. - Cindy bought the house two month ago.

  6. Ações habituais no passado com as mesmas expressões e advérbios que indicam essas ações habituais, como: rarely, often, always, etc. • Ex: - They rarely visited their grandparents. - She often got up at 6 a.m.

  7. Após as expressões as if e as though (= como se) e após o verbo wish (desejar). • Ex: - She behaves as if she knew him. - I wish I had more time to study. * Para o verbo to be, todas as pessoas terão a mesma forma (were). Ex: - I wish I were younger.

  8. Após a expressão if only ( = se ao menos). • Ex: - If only I knem the truth. - If only he understood me.

  9. Pay atention! • As regras do CVC também se aplicam para o acréscimo do –ed, ou seja a ultima consoante dobra. • Ex: - stop → stopped - prefer → preferred

  10. Verbos terminados em –e só recebem o acréscimo do –d. • Ex: - love → loved - hate → hated

  11. Verbos terminados em –y precedidos de consoante, perdem o –y e recebem –ied. Se forem precedidos de vogal mantem o –y + ed. • Ex: - rely → relied - play → played * Rely on → confiar em, contar com, depender de.
