“Impact and Me” By Nadine Denneth BSc (Hons) Management with Chemistry Final Year University of Leeds
How I met IMPACT – First Year at University • Afro-Caribbean Finance fair – May 2001 • The Civil Service Cabinet Office – Summer Placement • How Impact helped
My Second Year • Constant emails to keep me informed • Posters advertising the services of Impact • My priorities – study/life/sports/enjoying university
My Final Year • Careers Launch to Finalists • Resuming contact with Impact • How Impact is helping me now – my career aims
How I feel about Impact… as a minority ethnic undergraduate • Leeds University – Low number of mixed race/afro-Caribbean students • Impact doesn’t segregate me – creates access to schemes/areas and helps me gain the “cutting edge” • A personal service – time, informal, selective • Contact – E-mails throughout 3 years (persistent!) • Positive – lots to learn (and apply) this final year
