  7. In our schools…The parents First! F.R.O.G Following the Routes Of Greenness The main purpose of the programme is to raise public awareness of the need of a sustainable environmental education. It focuses both on tutors and learners who through creative and innovative indoor and outdoor activities are bound to improve their teaching and learning methods and abilities respectively. Teaching staff and learners should actively involve in several activities such as conferences, organising and participating in training sessions and local activities such as research on the topic, tours on foot with a view to criticizing and visiting eco parks, contacting organizations and authorities which deal with environmental issues. The most crucial ones will be recorded, photographed, monitored and this material will be used as an interactive material, tool which will be presented on the project web site. It is every individual’s lifelong responsibility to keep the earth green and unspoilt for the next generations and having a good command of the English language is the only way to promote and transmit this message worldwide!!!!!! Aims of the project: To foster awareness of the importance of the environment To stimulate creativity To promote the use of new technologies for adults and older learners To promote equal opportunities regardless of age, gender, disability or race To improve language skills Posters all over the schools!!

Population (31/12/2011) -  226,472 number of Bins   -                4,212 number of Vehicles  -                  9 Recovery - all year (tonnes) -  7,371 Visiting Recycling Center Recycling in Western Thessaly is constantly evolving, and the last five years the  Recycling Centre of  west Thessaly has contributed his work to protect the environment. The Recycling Sorting located in western Thessaly at a village closed to Karditsa, Artesiano and serves more than 350.000 inhabitants. The center was established in collaboration with the Municipality of Karditsa and the Greek Society for the Development of Recycling and-equipment installed capacity is 40 tons per 8 hours. The collected materials , paper, plastic, glass and metal are transferred to the appropriate center for separation, baled and sent to respective industries converted into recyclable materials. Residents actively participate in the recycling program but should be given more attention by the residents for the separation and deposition of materials into the correct bins. In the center are transported daily 900 tons of waste, although a part of them should not have moved there. It should be a campaign for a long time, to update, correct application, but also the awareness of even the last residents on the topic of recycling. So far they have distributed leaflets in the western Thessaly Environmental Development aimed at urging residents to recycle paper, aluminum, steel, plastic and glass.
