  3. Around the Room • Read your card. • On any piece of chart paper, write the number from your card and what you would do in response to the problem. (Use an outline format for your response) • Return to your table and share your card and what you would do in response to the problem. Andrea Duran-Learning Services

  4. “in loco parentis” • Are you acting like a parent when a student is in your charge? • Don’t make any decisions regarding a student when you are hurt, angry, lonely, or tired (HALT) • Child Abuse – You must report if you suspect. Andrea Duran-Learning Services

Legal things to remember • Teachers are legally obligated to keep an up-to-date grade book and take students with them in an emergency (fire drill). • Teachers could be considered negligent under the law if student work isn’t graded in a timely manner. • Never leave students unattended while they are expected to be in your care. • If you are assigned duty, be there (on time), you are legally responsible if there is a problem.   7. Whole group, small group, planned vs. unplanned grouping/pairing, pairing, individual, student centered, student guided. Consequences, punishment, reinforcement. Post daily learning objectives/goals. Students need to understand these and be able to link them to essentials/standards/expectations. Voice tone and velocity dictates control. Blooms Taxonomy • Knowledge-Remembering or memorizing information. • Comprehension-Understanding information. • Application-Use information to solve a problem or in a new/different situation. • Analyze-Select information/examine info/break info into parts. • Synthesis-Put information together in a new, original, or different way (creatively). • Evaluation-Place a value on information (rank/defend).
