  1. Diaphragm Types

  2. Rubber Diaphragms are flexible seals that prevent unwanted transmission of substances between two places. These substances can be liquids, gasses or solutions. They are characteristically tough and dynamic and essential in many flow control applications.

  3. 1. Fabric Reinforced Diaphragm The diaphragm utilizes a layer of fabric during the molding process.  This offers a wide range of design flexibility.  The fabric allows the diaphragm to withstand higher pressures whle also remaining very flexible in the process.  All elastomers can be constructed as a fabric reinforced diaphragm.

  4. 2. Double Coated Diaphragm Some diaphragm applications require that the rolling diaphragm be coated with rubber on both sides. This type of diaphragm is typically required when the application sees pressure on both sides of the diaphragm.

  5. 3. Insert Bonded Diaphragms Western Rubber has the ability to bond metal or plastic inserts to the diaphragm during the molding process. During the process, the insert becomes totally or partial encapsulated by the elastomer. Thus, creating a strong bond between the two.  By using this bonding process, costly assembly operations can be eliminated.

  6. 4. All Rubber Diaphragms All rubber (homogeneous) diaphragms can be used if the strength factor of a fabric reinforced diaphragm is not necessary.  These all rubber diaprhagm are used in very low pressure applications. The same functionality of a fabric reinforced diaphragm applies to the all rubber diaphragms (just without the fabric).

  7. 5. Flat / Die Cut Diaphragms Western Rubber has the ability of producing flat / die cut diaphragms for the industry.  Diaphragm can be all rubber, fabric reinforced or double-coat.  Various trim patterns are also an option for these flat diahpragms.

  8. 6. Teflon Faced Diaphragms Western Rubber has the capability of bonding a Teflon coating to the rubber diaphragm. This technique produces a diaphragm that is more suitable for harsh environments.
