  1. Luke 1:26-38 GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE

  2. 26 In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, Greetings, you who are highly favoured! The Lord is with you. 29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.

  3. 30 But the angel said to her, Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favour with God. 31 You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; his kingdom will never end. 34 How will this be, Mary asked the angel, since I am a virgin?

  4. 35 The angel answered, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. 37 For nothing is impossible with God. 38 I am the Lord's servant, Mary answered. May it be to me as you have said. Then the angel left her.

  5. NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE – GOD CAN USE YOU • Amos 7:14-15 Amos was a shepherd and took care of sycamore trees • Psalm 89:19 David was selected from the common people to be king God often choose and use the most unlikely of choices.

  6. NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE – GOD CAN USE YOU • Mary was willing and available for God to use. • God can use you to do great things if you are willing. • Question: Not “Can God use me?” BUT “Am I willing to allow God to use me?”

  7. NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES – GOD IS ABLE • The fact of the Virgin Birth underscores that nothing is too hard for God. • “The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you … For nothing is impossible with God.” [Luke 1:35]

  8. NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES – GOD IS ABLE • I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.” [John 42:2] • Ah Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. [Jeremiah 32:17] • I am the LORD, the God of all mankind, is anything too hard for me? [Jeremiah 32:27]

  9. GOD WILL MAKE A WAY God will make a way Where there seems to be no way He works in ways we cannot see He will make a way for me He will be my guide Hold me closely to His side With love and strength For each new day He will make a way He will make a way

  10. NO MATTER HOW BLEAK THE FUTURE – TRUST AND HOPE IN GOD Mary didn’t know what lies ahead: • Would people believe her? • Would Joseph think that she had been unfaithful to him and divorce her? • Would she be condemned as an adulteress?

  11. NO MATTER HOW BLEAK THE FUTURE – TRUST AND HOPE IN GOD “If we are thrown into the blazing fire, the God we serve is able to save us from it and He will rescue us from your hand, O King. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O King that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” [Daniel 3:17-18].

  12. NO MATTER HOW BLEAK THE FUTURE – TRUST AND HOPE IN GOD There are always uncertainties ahead, but there is one certainty that we cling to: God will never fail us. He can be trusted to help us overcome whatever we face in life.

  13. NO MATTER HOW BLEAK THE FUTURE – TRUST AND HOPE IN GOD • Remember God’s Character [Lamentations 3:19-27] • Recall God’s Track Record He who is faithful in the past will be faithful in the future - for “He is the same yesterday, today and forever.” [Hebrews 13:8]

  14. CONCLUSION Nothing is too hard for God for He is a God of the Impossible. • No matter who you are - God can use you. • No matter what your circumstances are - God is able. • No matter how bleak the future may seem - trust and hope in God.
