  8. the ETUC a bit of history • 1919 : International Federation of Christian Trade Unions (IFCTU) • 1945 : World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) • 1949 : International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) • 1968 : IFCTU  World Confederation of Labour (WCL) • 1969 : European Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ECFTU) European Organisation of the WCL (EO/WCL) • 1973 : ECFTU  European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) • 1974 : integration of the EO/WCL • 1974 - 2008 : enlargement with postcommunist organisations(CGIL ’74 … CGT 2000) and Central and Eastern Europe • 2006 : WCL + ICFTU = International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) • 2007 : Pan-European Regional Council (PERC)
