  1. Creating a Student Portfolio A place to document your work.

  2. Let’s build a Google Site! • Log into Google Drive • Click on 3. Click on Sites 4. Click on Create 5. Browse the gallery

  3. Select your cluster’s 7th grade student template. Name it with your name and hit create.

  4. Establish Your Privacy Settings • Click on Share and then Change • Select Anyone with the link

  5. Provide your teacher with the URL of your website. • Copy the link of your Google Site • Go to your email • Open the email from me with the Google Form. Please fill it out and paste in the url of your site in the space provided. This will allow me to check your site.

  6. Personalize your homepage by clicking on the pencil Click here to edit • Read the top that is written in blue. • Fill in the school’s mission • Write in a learning goal for the year • Write what you think a learning portfolio is. • Click on Save when you are done.

  7. To change the calendar. Click on Insert, then Calendar, Select your student calendar.

  8. Changing the Sidebar • Take a selfie and save it to your Google Drive • Click on the Gear in the right corner • Select Edit Site Layout this allows you to make changes to the sidebar • Click on the box for your picture and download your picture • Click on Close when you are done

  9. Making Changes to Pages • Select pages from the sidebar • Click on the pencil • Type on the page to add text • Click on insert to insert files

  10. Building Your Portfolio Sharing and reflecting on your work.

  11. Create a folder on Google Drive You will put everything that is linked to your portfolio in one folder that you will never delete! Please make a copy of your Cell Project and move it to this folder.

  12. Reflecting on Your Work 3. The teacher pushes out a reflection sheet on Google Drive. Check your incoming file and make a copy.

  13. Reflection Fill out the reflection sheet based on the piece of work that demonstrates your fulfillment of the standard.

  14. 4. Link your work to the document by getting the url of the piece of work in Google Drive. • Click on the share button then Get shareable link and paste it into the reflection document.

  15. Highlight the text you wish to hyperlink and click on the links. Paste in the URL.

  16. Paste Reflection into Google Sites • Copy your reflection by highlighting it, right click and copy. • Open your Google Site, go the the page for this standard, and paste the reflection in. • Additional work on the topic can be linked at the bottom of the page.

  17. Work can also be directly embedded into their Google Site pages Click on the pencil to edit.

  18. Click on Insert and then Google Drive to embed content directly on the page. Be sure to save when you are done!

  19. Have fun with your website! • Remember it is a school tool! • Add a blog of the books you are reading. • Add a section for your favorite sport with links to game results. • Take pictures of your art projects and include a description of each one. • Add links if the homework help sites you use often.
