Purpose of this presentation • The primary purpose of this presentation is to show the process of creating a digication ePortfolio. • There is also an introduction to the other web services offered by BU and a brief description of those services designed for use by individuals within the BU community.

  3. BU Web Services • Departmental/Group sites using Wordpress • URL is usuallywww.bu.edu/<groupname> An example of this might be SED’s homepage www.bu.edu/sed • Course Sites • Examples: Blackboard, Vista, WebCT… • Research Sites • Personal Sites • http://people.bu.edu – Free form html • http://blogs.bu.edu – Wordpress sites with WYSIWYG editing • ePortfolio Sites • Digication Profiles @ http://bu.digication.com – WYSIWYG editing in an environment designed to facilitate class sites and portfolio sites.

  4. Personal Sites • blogs.bu.edu is a Wordpress powered personal site. • people.bu.edu is linked to the ACS Unix system and you publish info here by adding a public_html folder to your home folder on ACS and then post a self-created website here

  5. ePortfolio Sites • BU Has partnered with an online portfolio provider named Digication. • The Digication platform is designed to provide an easy and streamlined method for a person to create a website. • When you create a BU Digication portfolio the URL is http://bu.digication.com/<your_portfolio>

  6. ePortfolio cont’d • Steps to using Digication • 1. go to http://www.digication.com • 2. In the “Already Registered” box under School or District name type Boston University • 3. click sign in and you will be directed to a bu.edu weblogin page where your type your BU username and password • 4. Agree to the terms and conditions and you will be brought to your dashboard where you can click on “Create” in order to start your ePortfolio
