  2. What is a dynasty? A dynasty is a long line of people from the same family ruling over a point of time.

  3. Where was the Ming Dynasty located? The Ming Dynasty was located in Nanjing [Beijing].

  4. Who was the founder of this dynasty? The founder of this dynasty was Chu Yuan-chang. He was a rebel leader, successful in knocking Mongols (people from Mongolia) off the throne.

  5. Accomplishments In the first quarter of the 15th century the Ming Dynasty defeated the Mongol tribes. They had incredible advances in sciences and arts, which led them to believe that they had the most perfect civilization in the world.

  6. Accomplishments(continued) Literature became very important, and schools were improved, and justice reformed. The Great Wall and the Grand Canal were also improved during this rule.

  7. The downfall of the Ming Dynasty In the middle of the 15th century (approx. 1644) the power declined. Quality of the Imperial leadership deteriorated. The downfall of the Ming Dynasty was brought by the rebellion to the disability of the government to provide food in a time of famine.(starvation)

  8. Extras The dynasty was divided into 15 provinces. With three commissioners assigned to each province. One for finances, one for military, and one for judicial matters.
