  2. Advising 1st FLOOR- “Walk-in” Advising Services  Geri Theadore Geri Theadore has been at URI since 1990. She teaches courses in testing in speech-language pathology and counseling in communicative disorders, supervises graduate students in child diagnostic and therapy clinic, and advises undergraduate students at University College. Prior to coming to URI, Ms. Theadore worked as a speech-language pathologist at Bradley Hospital, a child and adolescent psychiatric hospital in East Providence, RI. Ms. Theadore received her Bachelor's degree in elementary education and her Master's degree in speech-language pathology from URI. Her clinical interests include autism spectrum disorders, and literacy development and instruction.

Academic Enhancement Center “ Teaching is Learning” At the AEC, students work together to create academic success. “Our motto, Teaching is Learning, reflects our belief that meaningful learning happens when students work interactively. In the AEC’s relaxed, supportive environment, our peer tutors and learning specialists help students work together to develop the knowledge, skills and strategies they need to succeed!“

  7. Services • Tutoring – Students can receive free tutoring for specific subjects and classes, as well as for general learning skills and strategies. Tutoring is done by a trained team of advanced undergraduate students and by our professional learning specialists. • Supplemental Instruction Sessions (SI) – Students in SI-supported courses can attend course-specific study sessions faciliated by AEC staff. Our staff members attend the class, then meet weekly with students to review key concepts in the course and practice applying them. • Study Skills and Strategies Workshops- A variety of workshops on topics such as time management, test taking, memorizing, critical thinking, note-taking, procrastination, and more can be scheduled for groups upon request – call 874-2953.

  8. 4) Study Areas and Homework Tables 5)Academic Counseling- Succeeding in college requires a range of skills and strategies that many students haven’t fully developed. AEC staff can help you assess your academic strengths and weaknesses, set achievable goals, and take control over your academic career. 6) Writing Center- The college Writing Program’s Writing Center is located in the AEC. Students may visit the writing center for help on any stage of any paper- from brainstorming to editing.
