  3. Release 7.2 • Development Status • See the SREC website. Preliminary check in occurred May 22-24. Final check in is June 6. • Development Integration Platform (DIP) • Provide a platform (WFO and RFC) and process for integration of Government (GSD, MDL, OHD) developed software prior to delivery to Raytheon for Integration Testing (Pre-SwIT). • Provide a platform for development organizations (GSD, MDL, OHD, Raytheon) to execute functional testing prior to integration at Raytheon • June 20-23 Functional Testing • Participants - ER, SR, WR, CR, Training (2), OCWWS, SST, Raytheon) • Could use help testing SAFESEAS, SNOW

OB8 Planning - SREC Process • Step 0: Determine Development Allocations • Completed: Infrastructure – 45%, Strategic – 43%, A&C – 12% • Step 1: Gather potential candidates • Completed in February • Step 2: Add candidates to the new SREC Master List • Completed in February • Step 3: Validate requests • Working – OSIP material due 4/3/06 • Step 4: Gather supporting material • Completed in March • Step 5: Evaluate and prioritize candidates for integration into the AWIPS baseline • Complete by March 24, present at March 27 SREC meeting • Step 6: Prepare Release • April 1 to May 12

Step 6: Prepare Release • March 31 - Assignment to Development organization (Responsibility: SEC) • March 31 - Deliver Business Functional Requirements (Responsibility: SEC) • OSIP Tasks • SON, Project Plan, CONOPS/ORD • Infrastructure tasks • ORD • April 14 - Review of Material (Responsibility: Raytheon Testing Staff, Development Organizations) • Validate assignment – communicate mis-assignments to SEC • Validate requirements in accordance with AWIPS Business Functional Requirements Checklist • Assign actions to gather additional information • April 28 - Conduct a high level analysis on the top priority recommendations (Responsibility: Development organizations) • Prepare Work Breakdown Structure • Identify special Testing Requirements • Prepare Development LOEs (likely, pessimistic) • Prepare SwIT Integration LOEs (likely, pessimistic) • May 12 - Assign task to Releases 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 (Responsibility: SEC with assistance from Raytheon/Keane) • Based on SREC weighting, AWIPS budget, Development Organization expertise, development allocation, Integration testing resources, data availability, and release schedule • Prepare ROM for this release - Evaluate data sizes, communications Impact, hardware requirements, and cost (Responsibility: SEC – Analysis Branch)

OB8 Contents • Development Allocations • Planned: • Infrastructure – 45%, Strategic – 43%, A&C – 12% • Actual so far: • Infrastructure – 14%, Strategic – 60%, A&C – 26% • OB8 Contents • OB8 Release Plan (Attachment 1 – Sorted by Category and Release) • Meets all of the Regional top 5 and most of the top 20 for each category • Next Generation Warning Tool not included. Significant work in the requirements area and development will be impacted by AWIPS Evolution and NWS CONOP decisions. Prototyping and development would occur during FY2008. • Transition of GSD and OHD O&M to Raytheon will impact the OB8 deliveries. Significant impact between July 2006 – January 2007. (e.g., GFE items) • Follows OSIP priorities • Assigned some items to OB9. These items (e.g., AWIPS Software Training Capability) will be developed within part of the OB8 timeframe (last quarter FY2006 and FY2007) • NWS Concept of Operations not included • Looking for separate funding

OB8 Planning – SREC Process • Step 8, 9, 10: Validate/Approve Release Content (June 5) • SREC - Review June 5 to June 8, Vote on June 12 • SEC – June 9 • S&T Committee - TBD • Step 11: Prepared Change Requests for AWIPS CCB approval (June 16) • Software Release and Data Items (e.g., RUC) • Responsibility: SREC Vice Chair • Step 12: Provide the OCWWS Training Division with approved software build contents for inclusion to the NSTEP process (June 16) • Responsibility: Executive Secretary • Step 13: Identify SREC Focal Points for each OB8 development item (June 30) • Responsibility: SREC Vice Chair

OB8 – Documentation • Need OSIP Documentation for: • Hardware upgrades (Raytheon) • Port to NCEP GRIB2 Decoder (SEC- Gockel) • Ensembles (OST -Sreela Nandi) • NWS AWIPS Software Training Capability (Training - Magsig) • Centrally Produced 5km derived grids of sensible weather elements (ER- Waldstreicher) • FNMOC Wave Watch Model Guidance (OST – McAloon) • 4D Weather Information (Johnston, Graf) • Aviation Forecast Preparation System (Graf) • Next Generation Warning Tool (Ferree)
