  1. Learning Intentions - Today, I am going to: • review my Fall 2012 MAP results. • identify my areas of strength and weakness in both Reading and Mathematics. • set a goal of growth for the 2 remaining MAP tests this school year. CPW #11 Fall MAP Score Reflection Success Criteria – I will know I am successful when I… 1. understand my Fall 2012 MAP results. 2. set attainable, measureable goals for my Winter and Spring 2013 MAP testing.

  2. How to use your Student Goal Setting Worksheet…Reading MAP Make sure you are looking at Reading results. These are your last 4 MAP Reading Scores. FA12 means Fall 2012, the MAP test you just took. These are your scores by the four measured Reading standards. Green/white indicate an area of strength. Yellow/black indicate an area of weakness.

  3. This chart helps you set your goal for the Winter and Spring MAP tests… The dotted line was your Projected RIT from last year. It represents the typical growth by a student of the same grade over the same period of time. In this case, this student was projected to grow from 221 to 223 through the course of last year…a growth of 2. However, this student most recently tested at 227, exceeding the expected growth. But this student again projects to grow by 2 points over the course of this year. Thus, this student should have a minimal goal of 229 for Winter and Spring MAP tests in Reading.

  4. This chart helps you set your goal for the Winter and Spring MAP tests… 12th Grade ELOs… you probably noticed you don’t have this line. That’s because not enough 12th graders take this test to make accurate projections. However, we expect 12th graders to perform a lot like 11th graders. So, as a 12th grader, you can expect to grow by 2 or 3 points over the course of this year. Thus, this student should have a minimal goal of 229 for Winter and Spring MAP tests in Reading.

  5. The 3 FA12 bars are your Reading score, the MPS average, and the overall average. Make sure you are looking at Reading results. How to read your Student Progress Report…Math MAP FA12 has your latest RIT band, growth since FA11, projected growth, and percentile range. This student’s score is as good or better than 59% of students. These are your ratings of the four measured Reading standards. These identify strengths and weaknesses.

  6. How to read your Student Progress Report…Math MAP 12th grade ELOs… you probably noticed you don’t have these descriptors. Again, that’s because not enough 12th graders take this test to provide these descriptors. However, you can still use your Goal Performance scores from your Student Goal Setting Worksheet to identify your strengths and weaknesses.

  7. Using the data from your reports, add a vertical line for the district average, the norm, and your minimal goal. Page 43 of your student planner… Ignore this Goal 229 line. It’s a mistake. 227 Shade the Fall bar from left to right to your FA12 RIT score. Also shade the Test 1 box that same color. Fill in your RIT too.

  8. Now, complete page 44 of your student planner… Identify and reflect on your strengths in Reading. Identify and reflect on your weaknesses in Reading. Identify your goals in the upcoming MAP reading tests. How are you going to get there? Complete the sentence that suits you best.

  9. Complete the same reflection on your Math score… • Examine your Student Goal Setting Worksheet for your Math results. • Examine your Student Progress Reports for further depth of your Math results. • Complete Page 46 of your student planner. • Complete Page 47 of your student planner.
