  11. BPVS 3 • Norm referenced test of receptive vocabulary • Standardised on 3278 children • Age range 3 years to 16 years 11 months • Standard scores were calculated • mean standard score=100 • 1 standard deviation = 15

  14. Summary • Children with simultaneous implants “catch up” with the older sequentially implanted children who have had more hearing experience in functional listening • At 3 years post implantation the simultaneously implanted children acquire fairly intelligible speech
