  1. Parish Transformation Presentation to Vicar, January 21, 2014 Queen of Angels Parish, Chicago, IL Revised 1/18/2014

  2. “Pearls of Great Price” • Welcoming community • Quality liturgies • Role models of faith • Evangelization • Catechesis • Missionary Spirit Building Blocks for Mission • Communion • Spiritual Stewardship

  3. Mission Narrative We are a community of seekers hungry to do God’s work. We seek to be filled with Christ – he is everything we are and everything we want to be. We seek to imitate Mary by humbly following her Son through catechesis, evangelization, communion, spiritual stewardship and a missionary spirit that points the way to her Son.

  4. Mission Narrative (continued) At the Wedding Feast at Cana, Mary directed the servants to “Do whatever he tells you.” As servants, we seek to be a parish that is attentive to guests, active and engaged in the celebration of liturgy and provide a witness to the works of Christ while showing that the wine is good.

  5. Mission Narrative (continued) We are a community of English-speaking and Spanish-speaking Catholics, all from very diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. As Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth, we seek to visit and know one another across divides of age and personal history.

  6. Mission Narrative (continued) To deepen our communion, we invite one another to engage, step out of our comfort zones, and give of ourselves. Like the frantic parents Joseph and Mary searching the city for their son, we search out the child Jesus in those who have drifted away, helping them rediscover Jesus.

  7. Mission Narrative (continued) We will transform our lives and our community by pouring forth our gifts overflowing from our faith, growing together in unity with Christ and each other, spreading the Gospel through our lives and actions, teaching and sharing our faith, and reaching out beyond our community.
